PUBLICATIONS
To promote greater interaction and participation between the cross-sections of its members and other inter-related trade bodies, the Chamber publishes “ Vyapar Darshan ” a bi-monthly magazine primarily connected with the textile trade and industry. Efforts are on to bring out specific publications and monthly reports on the global textile trade and industry in the post WTO era, aimed at showcasing the growth of Textile business from this part of the country.
VOICE OF THE BUSINESS FRATERNITY
The Chamber functions as the voice of the business community in general and more specially for the textile trade. Government policies that affect business are often referred to the relevant authorities and departments through proper communication & representations.
OVERSEAS VISITS & MEETINGS WITH OVERSEAS DELEGATIONS
1.VISIT TO CHINA
COTTI sent a 60 plus member delegation from Kolkata to Guangzhou, China for the 97th Chinese Export Commodities Fair during 15th – 20th April, 2005. The delegation was on a fact finding mission – apart from aiming to strengthen the existing commercial relationships with Chinese textile companies engaged in manufacturing, trading, while expanding the scope of textile business from this part of the country.
2. VISIT TO SWITZERLAND-PARIS - DUBAI
With a view to explore new markets in the backdrop of global financial recession and to generate knowledge about modern trend of world-class designs in textile sector with the aid of research and development, a team comprising 32 delegations visited Switzerland, Germany, France and UAE during 6th – 16th February, 2009. The tour covered amongst others the most prestigious and world's largest Textile Fair – TEXWORLD and PREMIER VISION at Paris and ultra-modern largest TEXTILE CITY (Hub) at Dubai .
Interactive meetings with the textile giants were also arranged by their local associations when the delegation had got the opportunities to browse through advanced textile literatures of the countries and acquired knowledge of potentiality and new visions of creativity.
3. SECOND VISIT TO CHINA
Inspired by the success of the earlier overseas visits, once again a delegation of 38 members visited 106th Canton Fair at Guangzhou and amongst other places, the Economic Capital of China – Shanghai and the Capital of China – Beijing from 31 st .Octoberto 9th November, 2009.
4. INDUSTRIAL VISIT
At the initiative of the Textile Commissioner's Office and on the invitation of South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Surat , our Chamber's delegation of 33 members visited the textile fair – Fiber to Fashion 2010, at Surat and also visited several Industries, Eco Textile Park etc . at Surat between 24th – 27th September, 2010.
5. MEETING WITH FOREIGN TRADE DELEGATION
With an objective of building a collation Indian Trade and Industry, sensitize members about the opportunities and incentives of Investment in Thailand as well as to explore investment opportunities by Thai business in India, an Interactive meeting was organized on 24th July, 2009 with the officials of the Board of Investment, Government Of Thailand by the Chamber. |
